Saffron is a character in The Flip Flop Show. She is a chef who runs Sweet Smiles, a restaurant located on the first floor of Flipside. She can cook Bleu and the other heroes various recipes if they bring her items.
Saffron, like all other Flipside residents, has a doppelgänger who lives in Flopside; her name is Dyllis. The main difference between the two is that Saffron will only cook recipes that require one ingredient, while Dyllis cooks recipes that require two. During the show, Saffron comes to Bleu's aid by cooking him a Spicy Soup in order to revive Sipsi after she unexpectedly falls into Flipside. In the end, everyone celebrates victory by going to her shop and chew on some of her snacks (though it isn't shown, it is stated).
Her name comes from a spice of the same name that is grown mostly in southern Asia and is primarily used as an ingredient in various dishes. Its taste is recognized as "metallic honey" by some, which may parallel Saffron's sweet personality. Saffron's benevolence may also reflect that of Betsy, the cook in the original Paper Mario.

- According to Carson, Merlon was once in love with Saffron. She told him she would go out with him if he could finish a Saffron Special Galactic Meal, an enormous meal to behold. Merlon had finished all but a pit of parsley when he heard that an injured girl had appeared in Flipside. He rushed off to take care of her, and the parsley was left ever since.
- Saffron is fairly similar to Betsy from Toad Town in Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64.
